The dish I made is pernil, it is translated to pork shoulder. Instead of eating turkey for Thanksgiving or ham for Christmas, it’s pernil that we make. It’s very much like if you do not bring this to a party, it is not a real party. My mother had to learn how to cook when she got married... My mother’s aunt taught her how to make her pernill. So then my mom started making them, and my mom became the famous person for bringing the pernil to the party. And so I wanted to continue the tradition and learn my mother’s recipe, which is also my aunt’s recipe. Hopefully my children will learn how to make it and continue the legacy of the pernil!
